Vertical Connectors Go From The Top Of One Tunnel To The Bottom Of Another Tunnel (or Another Connector). You Can Connect To The Bottom Of A Glass Tunnel But Not The Top. Once The Nano Circular Connectors Are Attached Both Top And Bottom You Can Build A Ladder In It From Either End That Allows You To Travel From One Tunnel To The Other.
